HISTORY

Started as a special school for medicine at Ofusa-cho, Kashihara-shi.

Transformed to a medical university. The building for Basic Medicine moved to Unebi-cho, Kashihara-shi.

Library started in the Basic Medicine building, also borrowing a space from the Kashihara Branch of the Nara Prefectural Library and also from the Administration Department of the University. Hospital Library was opened the same year to be used as a meeting room as well.

Library joined the Japan Medical Library Association.

Library moved temporarily to the fourth floor of the newly built Basic Medicine building (present Clinical Research Building).

The former Library building completed in November.

The present Library building completed in April. Online information retrieval services started.

Book Detection System installed.

Started connecting to NACSIS-CAT cataloging system (The National Center for Science Information Systems of the Minister of Education, Science, Sports and Culture).

Library hours extended from 18:00 to 22:00.

CD-LAN information retrieval started.

Intra-campus information retrieval started.

Supervising system for Library installed. Library hours unattended by staff started for Saturdays and the night time of weekdays. A new checking-out system began with magnetic cards and bar codes.

Library of the Nursing School changed to a branch of the main Library in April. Total library management system (CARIN) started in May.

Shelves at east and west window-side passages of stacks increased in July.

A branch closed and library servise unified in main library in September.

Institutional repository system installed and "Naito blog" by librarian started in June.

"My Naito", personal page service for users started in September.

The installing plan and the guideline for the institutional repository established in February.

Institutional repository "GINMU" test released in August.

Library opening hours extended from 9:00 to 8:45 in September.

Institutional repository "GINMU" full-scale released in November.

Regulation to manage the Nara Medical University Library enforced in February.

"Nara Medical University Library News Letter" started in August.

Official twitter started in August.

Library hours unattended by staff started for Sundays in September 18.

"Tobyoki-bunko" started lending for visitors in October 3.

Temporary closed system for switching attended hours to unattended hours abolished in December.

"Nara Idai Kyoyo Bunko" section opened in June.

Library hours extended from 22:00 to 24:00 in August.

Studying Room and Browsing Room opened in September.

Book Detection System updated and automatic lending machine installed in October.
